31-Year Orthopedic Surgeon Retires

Pam Walrod, Director of Marketing & Community Relations
November 29, 2007

Gordon Traub, M.D., a well-respected and highly regarded orthopedic surgeon on Placentia-Linda Hospital’s Medical Staff retired yesterday after being in practice for 30+ years in Placentia, CA.

Dr. Traub has been on Placentia-Linda’s Medical Staff for 31 years and is known to the O.R. staff as the “Spring Breeze” surgeon for his ease with staff and patients during surgery.  Dr. Traub’s patients and our Hospital staff love him and his easy-going manner and the way he always assures and comforts his patients.

Dr. Traub practiced for over 30 years in Placentia.  He and his wife moved in August, 1977, to Orange County, CA from Canada.  They drove here – Dr. Traub said he’d will never forget the day he arrived in Orange County – he was to have dinner with a local physician’s family – he remembers it well as the Santa Ana winds were howling and California was in one of the worst droughts in history.  On his way to the physician dinner, a torrential downpour began -- it finally rained after all the time of drought.  He also said he will always remember his first day in Orange County, CA, as it was also the day Elvis Presley died – August 16, 1977.

Dr. Traub and his wife, Sylvia, live in Placentia.  Dr. Traub has a “top 10” list of things he plans to do while in retirement including “attending and teaching CME classes to keep his physician license active, play golf with a score lower than 200, walk both of his dogs (at the same time), spend time with his grandchildren and spend more time with his grandchildren and travel and spend time with his wife and attend an opera without falling asleep.”

Placentia-Linda Hospital hosted a Retirement Party for Dr. Traub on Wednesday, 11/28/07, where our CEO, Kent Clayton and Chief of Staff, Christopher Lundquist, MD, presented Dr. Traub with a years of service plaque and gift on behalf of the Medical Staff.
