Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Dr. Richard McGuire graduated Summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut.  He was also a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.  He then completed his Doctor of Medicine degree at New York University, New York, New York and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. 

Dr. McGuire completed his medical internship and residency in internal medicine at the Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut.  He went on to complete a gastroenterology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.

Dr. McGuire is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology and has been in the practice of gastroenterology since 1990.
