Dr. Mayo graduated Magna Cum Laude and received both his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He went on to study at the Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota, where he earned a doctorate in medicine.
Dr. Mayo is Board-Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota and then another residency in Orthopaedic Surgery also at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. Dr. Mayo is a fifth generation descendent of the Mayo family that started the Mayo Clinic. | Dr. Mayo’s plan of care includes encouraging patients to ask questions and take part in their care. It is his job to make sure the patient understands their treatment plan. So, therefore, he spends as much time as needed with the patient and provides them education and any needed literature. Many of his patients have been with him for more than 10 years and are like an extended family.
