Digital Mammography

A digital mammography uses x-rays to visualize abnormalities in breast tissue. The equipment is used to detect breast cancer as early as possible, which generally improves the effectiveness of treatment.

Stereotactic Breast Biopsy

Breast cancer imaging option that produces stereo images — images of the same area from different angles. This helps to determine the exact location for the biopsy, where a sample of breast tissue is then removed with a needle.

How to Prepare

How to Prepare and What to Expect During and After Your Visit

Preparing for Your Mammography Visit

When making an appointment, please let us know if you have a primary care physician or if you have a physician’s order for your screening mammogram. If you are in need of a primary care physician, we can help you find the right doctor to fit your needs. In preparation for your visit, please wash all deodorant and/or powder off the breast and underarms prior to your exam. Please also refrain from wearing lotions and perfumes, or any other products on your upper torso as they may contain minerals that interfere with the results of your study. We recommend you wear a two-piece outfit so that you will only need to disrobe from the waist up. If your previous films are not available the day of your exam, the reading of the mammogram will be delayed. You may eat, drink and take medications as usual unless you are advised differently. Please notify your technologist if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Following Your Mammography Visit

Our Affiliated Radiologists will interpret your images and send a report directly to your doctor. Your doctor will communicate the results of your exam to you. We will also send you a reminder card in one year.
